The excitement that the seasons bring is always delightful.
The Welter Experiment crew, who had spent time with the changes of the seasons in the mountains and forests,
this time participated in “Based in Nature” held in Muju, Jeollabuk-do.
In fact, it was the first time visiting Muju,
and no prior information was searched before participating.
The biggest reason was the strong desire for newness.
For the one-night, two-day hiking, the luggage to be packed was put into a backpack.
Above all, the biggest concern was safety,
but thanks to the consideration of the organizers, it seemed it would be a comfortable walking trip.
Putting down the heavy backpack,
only the minimum necessities were taken to begin the hike.
Many places have been visited until now,
but it had been a long time since beautiful and warm emotions were felt while walking in nature.
Crossing the stepping stones reminded of the stream where childhood friends and I used to play in the water.
Not only among our crew, but also on the faces of other participants,
curiosity-filled expressions could be seen.
Different in region, work, and environment, yet gathered only by the love of nature,
it was a moment when an inexplicable closeness could be felt from strangers.
At the moment when beads of sweat formed on the forehead,
the taste of the ice cream handed out at the checkpoint cannot be forgotten.
It was the moment when the greatest happiness could be felt at the hardest time.
The first experience of Muju, walking about 20 km,
was so moving that it brought the desire to return again.
Thanks to the unspoiled nature, it felt as if going back to the past, like the magic of time.
The birdsong that woke the morning, the unique scenery encountered while walking,
the smiles of the people who make this place their home —
it was a series of moments that could not be missed.
Muju, embraced by nature,
is a place I hope to visit again someday with the Welter Experiment crew.
