The trembling given by a place and environment never experienced before,
whatever its purpose may be,
is filled with both expectation and concern.
So it was with the first Taiwan tour with the Welter Experiment crew.
Although it was a business trip with friends whose thoughts and purposes aligned,
the air, sunlight, and wind of this unfamiliar land,
and the expressions of its people,
made me even more curious about this place.
The first feeling after stepping into Taipei
was that it closely resembled somewhere in our country.
The worries and concerns that it would be extremely humid
under the blazing midsummer sun
had long since been forgotten.
Unpacking the luggage roughly,
the desire to quickly walk around the places was earnest.
There was only the urge to immediately step into their lives.
Met the Whitelock friends who maintain a close relationship with the Welter Experiment crew.
It had been about three months since we last met,
so it did not feel like a long time had passed,
but the warm welcome they gave
felt like meeting hometown friends after a long while.
We greeted each other warmly and asked how we had been.
As always, they were impressive in their attitude of
trying new things, making efforts, and enjoying themselves.
Today somehow felt like a night that would be spent sharing each other’s stories until dawn.
The splendid city is more attractive at night than during the day.
The lights that never go out and the stories of the people,
relying on the map app,
various sights were captured again and again with the eyes.
The rules within the complexity, and within those rules,
their city, living in balance, still overflowed with energy.
The day and night of Taipei were so different
that they still remain impressive in memory.
There were quite a few households in apartments growing plants,
which I imagine must have been largely for air purification.
Nature that bloomed between concrete
is like a symbol of considerable vitality.
The love for nature
may be the common denominator of the whole world.
Today again, walking and walking to meet a new Taipei.
